One of the best things to focus on during a transitional period in life is God's sovereignty. He is our ruler and our King, and moreover, He is outside of time. Our Creator
already knows all that has happened to us and all that will happen to us. He has appointed a day for our births and knows the very number of hairs on our heads! What a great and awesome God we serve! The psalmist David, a man after God's own heart, knew what to focus on in times of need:
Focus on what the Lord has done! Psalm 33- All His work is done in faithfulness!
- He loves justice and uprightness, the earth is full of his steadfast love!
- He created all life just by speaking!
- He is sovereign and above the council of nations!
- He is sovereign and above the plans of people!
- The plans of His heart stand forever!
- Blessed are the people He has chosen for His heritage!
- He sees all the people of the earth.
- He fashions the hearts of all men, and observes their deeds.
- His eyes are on those who fear Him, and hope in His steadfast love.
- He has delivered our souls from death!
- He has kept us alive in famine.
- He has been help and our shield!
- Our hearts can be glad in Him!
- In Him we find hope.
What can we learn from focusing on these things? We can remember to trust in the Lord, to lean not on our own limited understanding.
Ephesians 6: 10-20 reminds us that when we take up the the shield of faith we can extinguish the flaming darts of the enemy. We do not have to live our lives in fear of the future, in fear of any economic forcast, or even in fear of war. It is amazing how much fear and trembling can melt away when we focus on even one small truth about God. Be encouraged!
Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world!

This is SO true! Thank you so much for reminding us of God's faithful and dependable sovereignty in all things!
Thank you so much for this reminder! I needed to hear that, esp as I just watched a short news clip that predicted world war over oil and doom for us all! The problem with that prediction is that it leaves out our hope in God, even in the midst of the worse trials.
I love this post, and I love the reminder of the greatness of our God.
What a great post!! God's sovereignty is one the most precious attibutes to me right now, along with his infinite goodness and infalibity. He is ALL GOOD, never makes mistakes, and is in complete control. Relief flows over me just repeating those words!
